Guiding local policymakers

Policymakers can in a new, downloadable document find a legislative overview, concerning policymaking on waste management. The pdf brief contains an overview of the most relevant regulations for the fashion industry regarding the level of urgency and level of difficulty to adaptation, specifically for SMEs.

It starts with the European green pact – the action plan for the circular economy and the sustainable textile strategy. These are the very foundation to address any upcoming legislation in the EU.

There is also a summary of the five (5) regulations that’s been classified as high priority.  This includes an explanation with relevant information, such as access to the original legislative document, support documents and, if possible, best practices.

Finally, an annex has been developed to include information about regulations of indirect relevance. These may be useful to ensure a just transition for textile waste management within the EU.
