First year’s insights and priorities
At the end of the first year of the TEXAD project, the partners have already found a viable path to follow, when creating and improving the municipal policies for textile waste management.
At the end of the first 12 months of the TEXAD project, two International Peer Reviews (IPeR) process meetings has been held. One for the lead partner Borås, the second for the Prato municipality.
During these meetings – coupled with on-site study visits and Steering committee meetings – the project partners have now put forward six Good Practices, and highlighted three key perspectives to pursue.
All partners have assessed their territories in SWOT analyses. The findings point out common topic of interest. These three key perspectives are pointed out as essential for the continued work within TEXAD.
- Citizen awareness. Crucial for reducing textile waste at the consumer level.
- Training and education. Essential across the entire supply chain, from design to sorting and upcycling.
- Legislation and subsidies. Some challenges require action at a higher political level, to support alliances and drive innovation.

The ITWs will be held in conjunction with the study visits to Mataró, Enschede, Stara Zagora, and Santa Tirso/Podkarpackie region.
