On December 12, 2024, the North-West Regional Development Agency (RDA North-West) organized the second meeting of the Regional Stakeholder Group as part of the TALENT4S3 project. This initiative, focused on attracting and retaining talent in the North-West Development Region, took place in Oradea at the Bihor Science and Technology Park—a key regional investment and member of the regional action group.

Key Discussions

Participants explored the unique challenges and opportunities in the North-West Region, with a particular emphasis on the Oradea-Bihor development hub. Key topics included:

  • The role of local authorities in fostering a talent-friendly environment.
  • The impact of visionary local leadership in implementing expert-driven solutions.
  • Lessons learned from a study visit to the Extremadura Region in Spain.

Showcasing Local Facilities

The meeting also included a presentation of the Bihor Science and Technology Park, a €6 million investment by the Bihor County Council, supported by ADR Nord-Vest through the Regional Operational Program. Opened in 2024, the park serves as a prime example of innovative infrastructure that promotes collaboration between academia, industry, and researchers. Răzvan Pătcaș, the park's director, highlighted its role in attracting and retaining local talent.

Looking Ahead

The TALENT4S3 project activities in Romania will continue into 2025, with a study visit planned for May in the North-West Region. In the meantime, the action group will focus on identifying best practices and building an ecosystem that supports both talent retention and attraction. Through its ongoing efforts, the group will engage local stakeholders to ensure sustainable growth and foster a collaborative environment for regional talent development.
