On an annual basis, EURASHE, the European Association for the Applied Sciences in Higher Education, gather the Higher Education community to discuss and draft a shared path on relevant topics for the present and future of education. This edition focuses on how Higher Education Institutions can contribute to regional innovation ecosystems, following the Smart Specialization approach.

Amidst rising geopolitical challenges and global competition, the recently published report by Mario Draghi, “The Future of European Competitiveness,” highlights that today’s global economic competitiveness is built on a highly skilled workforce and the creation and application of new knowledge.

Lucila Castro, from FUNDECYT-PCTEX, was invited to showcase the progress of TALENT4S3 project and its articulation with the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization (RIS3) of Extremadura, within the Plenary Session “Harnessing Talent in Regions.”

During her speech, Lucila highlighted key conclusions from the State of the Art of the Extremadura Region that also impact many other European territories. A common challenge identified was the emigration of skilled professionals. In this context, all participants emphasized the importance of developing policies to encourage the retention and attraction of talent.

The panel discussion provided valuable insights for implementing strategic actions focused on efficiently addressing talent management in Europe through regional strategies.
