Viseu Hosts Interregional Meeting
This StopWste project, led by CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, brings together partners from Portugal, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Romania in the search for solutions to one of today's biggest environmental challenges: urban waste management.
The opening session, held at Casa do Adro in Viseu, was chaired by the President of CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, Fernando Ruas. This was followed by a presentation of the status of the StopWaste project and a speech by the Vice-President of the Centre's Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), Alexandra Rodrigues, who presented the Green Deal Centre project. The session was also attended by the CIM's Executive Secretary, Nuno Martinho, and the CIM's Vice-President, Paulo Almeida.
👉 The second day was dedicated to technical visits in Tondela, where the participants learnt about three success stories in waste management. In Planalto Beirão, the delegation led by the Executive Secretary of CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, Nuno Martinho, was received by the Mayor of Tondela, Carla Borges, the President of the Planalto Beirão Municipalities Association, Leonel Gouveia, and the Executive Secretary of Planalto Beirão, José Portela.
Interecycling, a company dedicated to recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment, and Nutrofertil, a company specialising in the recovery of organic waste, were also visited.
The meeting was attended by experts, policymakers and project partners, who took part in strategic presentations, workshops and technical visits.
