LIMNE is keynote at IE event on climate resilience
On February 26th, the Interreg Europe Programme is hosting an event focused on 'Building Water Resilience in Times of Floods and Droughts' in Murcia, Spain. This topic is close to all RIWET hearts, but now one of particular relevance to our partners in Valencia.
Floods & extreme weather
So, we’re very pleased to share that RIWET colleagues from LIMNE will be leading one of the work sessions on Floods & Extreme Weather Events at the upcoming conference. Sales Tomas Pons and David Campos from the LIMNE River Restoration Foundation will be keynote speakers, offering valuable insights on governance and innovative approaches to river management in the face of flooding.
Recovery & advisory service
In response to the DANA 2024 event and questions surrounding responsibilities and potential actions, Fundació Limne has established an advisory service for local councils on the natural recovery of rivers, ravines, and fluvial spaces.
Municipalities, managers, and technicians can reach out to LIMNE for assistance with, amongst other things:
- Analyzing the fluvial and geomorphological context within a municipality.
- Evaluating efficient recovery options and urgent natural restoration with a long-term perspective.
- Ensuring continued long-term cooperation through shared governance of rivers and ravines, with an emphasis on citizen participation.
Following LIMNE's presentation, an interactive session will provide an opportunity for other experts to join the discussion and engage with the audience.
EEW3 in Valencia
Meanwhile, the RIWET partners are very much looking forward to learning more about the impact of DANA and the strategies for recovery during the next live knowledge exchange event EEW3 in Valencia this March.
