RENEWAT Webinar

Our 1st project webinar will take place on 13 May 2025
“Does small hydro means small impacts? Environmental considerations in relation to the development of small hydropower plants”
The growing need for renewable energy to meet societal demands and address the climate crisis has driven the rapid development of small hydropower plants — with the assumption that they are less damaging to the environment than large hydropower projects.
But is that really the case? This talk will explore the environmental impacts and possible mitigation measures, especially around river connectivity and the need to focus on often “forgotten” species.
The session will feature presentations from experts in various relevant fields. Among the speakers, you'll hear from Marie-Pierre Gosselin (Norwegian Institute of Nature Research, Norway), who is expert in Ecohydraulics, Freshwater mussels, Environmental flows, and Hydromorphology.
