Energie Commune, REC4EU partners representing Belgium, is focusing on the content of the first policy instrument: the Walloon electricity market design Decree.

For this reason, a meeting of the stakeholders group took place the 6th of February 2025 in the offices of Energie Commune. Many actors who represent a wide range of types of consumers who can potentially be engaged in a REC or in an energy sharing project, as members or participants attended the meeting :

•    Société Wallone du Logement (social housing companies federation)
•    Agoria (technological companies federation)
•    Federia (condominium manager)
•    Indufed (industrial companies federation)
•    Walloon local action groups
•    UCM (SME’s Union)
•    Test Achat (Consumers Union)
•    SEGEC (Federation of catholic schools)
•    Fédération wallonne de l’agriculture (Walloon farmers federation)

The goal of the meeting was to discuss a draft of the policy document that Energie Commune proposed to the stakeholders, listing several recommendations to implement in the above policy instrument.

During the meeting the working group reviewed together the document, and each stakeholder contributed to give interesting inputs and commnets.

This fruitful exchange provided in the end a pretty advanced draft of the policy document which will be finalized and agreed among the parties in the next days.

Once the policy document is finalized, it will be presented by Energie Commune to the Walloon Minister of Energy and the Regulator.

The goal of such document is to put pressure on the Walloon Government to remove the legal when they will revise the electricity market design Decree by transposing the Directive 2024/1711.

The meeting took place in person on the 6th February 2025 in Wallonia.
