Slovak stakeholders met in the 2nd semester at SIEA place

The 2nd stakeholder meeting of the REC4EU project took place on February 13, 2024, on the premises of the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency. This event was also held in a hybrid form.

The topic of the workshop was Energy Communities and their support in Slovakia.

The meeting started with the presentation of a SWOT analysis in which SIEA looked at individual strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats from the point of view of technical, regulatory, economic and social barriers.

Next, the participants looked at the examples of good practice that were the results of the 2nd REC4EU project meeting held in Granada on 30-31 January 2024.

The main topic of the meeting was the support for energy communities, especially support for self-consumers of RES and communities producing energy from RES. Potential future financing options for Energy Communities which are linked to the policy instrument Program Slovakia 2021-2027 were presented to stakeholders.

New infrastructure for energy planning such as regional energy centres was presented as well as the regional centres for sustainable energy are being created in 2024. Their task will be to collect and analyze energy data, provide support to municipalities, spread awareness, and supervise respect for environmental limits when using RES.

Richard Modrák from the Cluster of Energy Communities of Slovakia looked at the current situation in Slovakia in the field of community energy and the current needs of which insufficient legislation resonated the most.

The meeting of stakeholders was attended by representatives of

  • the Ministries
  • the Municipality of the capital city of Bratislava,
  • the self-governing regions,
  • representatives of academia,
  • civil associations,
  • representatives of banking institutions,
  • small and medium-sized enterprises
  • and others.
