It was the second time that REC4EU partners and stakeholders met personally after the Florence Kick off meeting and it was really a profitable occasion to share experiences and issues faced in the past 12 months.

Partners meeting in Granada

January 30th 2024: meeting and steering committee

The second semester is about to end and it's time to draw the first conclusions.

  • Did partners organise their stakeholder meetings to discuss the swot analysis on the local policy?
  • Which are the vision and reality for policy improvement?
  • Which are the main problems linked to the technical, regulatory, economic, social aspect of a REC to be fostered?
  • Have partners found some Good Practices (strengths) to present to the other countries?
  • Which are the policy needs (weaknesses) that partners identified in their local policy and for which they are searching for a solution to bring home?
  • Which strategies to engage citizens in RECs in particular vulnerable families?

These and many other topics were processed during the 2 days meeting.

Partners started to work in small groups to exchange ideas and find a share path to be deepened in future bilateral meetings.

Partners visit at Granada Province premises

January 31st 2024: study visits

The first study visit occurred in the Municipality of Monachil to witness first-hand how the first established, real and functioning Renewable Energy Community works. It deals with the first national pilot project in Spain, so it was extremely interesting to hear about.

Here partners met members from COOPERASE, the technical coordinator of the Monachil REC, and form Oficina Social de las Comunidades Energéticas (OSCE), the animation side of the local RECs who, together, drove the process side by side. They explained all the difficulties they encountered at the very beginning of the process, when there was no specific law, no experience to follow for legal procedures and for social involvement. Their stories were of great inspiration for the other partners who have still a lot to learn from Spain.
