PROXIMITIES Showcased at Association of Irish Regions event

The PROXIMITIES project was proudly showcased by our Irish partner, the Southern Regional Assembly, at the Association of Irish Regions (AIR) Training Seminar, held on 5-6 February 2025 at the in Athlone, Ireland. This highly anticipated event, attended by over 270 registered delegates from across Ireland and Europe, brought together locally elected representatives, policymakers, regional planners, experts, and key stakeholders to engage in discussions on regional development and multi-level governance.
Showcasing PROXIMITIES
At the showcase, members of the Southern Regional Assembly, including Director, David Kelly, Brigh Ryan, Regional Planning Officer, and Áine Whelan, EU Projects Officer and Communication Manager for PROXIMITIES, met with Cllr Niall 'Botty' O’Callaghan, who was the acting Leas Cathaoirleach (Deputy Chairperson) of the Association of Irish Regions for the event. Discussions focused on the PROXIMITIES project’s contribution to regional governance, sustainable place-making, and its role in strengthening proximity-based planning approaches.
