On 3rd December, the Municipality of Reggio Emilia held its second  Stakeholder Group meeting as part of the PROXIMITIES project. The meeting brought together representatives from the Municipality and local stakeholders to discuss strategies for creating a "City of Proximity," with a focus on enhancing the liveability and accessibility of peri-urban areas.

During the meeting, participants explored key challenges and opportunities, including:

  • Designing Inclusive Public Spaces: Identifying ways to create spaces that meet the diverse needs of all residents.
  • Strengthening Neighbourhood Services: Highlighting the importance of accessible, localised services that support community life.
  • Promoting Sustainable Mobility and Green Areas: Exploring solutions to enhance connectivity and environmental sustainability within the city.
  • Citizen Involvement: Stressing the need for direct engagement with residents to ensure policies and initiatives reflect their lived experiences and needs.

In addition to addressing these critical topics, the group discussed the next steps for the project, including preparations for the first planned study visits and the exchange of good practices with other project partners across Europe. These activities will provide valuable insights into how best to foster proximity and sustainability in peripheral urban areas.
