The 9th Study Visit will be in Livorno, Italy

The last study visit of PROMOTER project will take place in Livorno province in the days from 27 to 29 May 2025 with over fifty participants.

The SV addresses both intertwining topics – Sustainable mobility and green energy generation/sharing. The lead partner Livorno Province will ensure interregional exchange on local experiences such as the concept and detailed formulation of a Wide Area Renewable Energy Community, a Wide Area sustainable mobility plan and supporting facilities (PV charging stations), the mobility information supporting system Bontime, utilization of geothermal energy for various purposes: electricity generation (the “Valle Secolo” geothermal power plant is the largest plant of its kind in Europe, with almost 120 MW of installed power), district heating, steam as a sustainable input of food enterprises.

After a plenary session on the morning of Day 1 in Livorno Province headquarters, participants will attend field investigations in Day 2 and 3 in the countryside, first in Larderello and then in Pomarance. In the final workshop,  coming back to Livorno on Day 3 in the afternoon, all participants will jointly review and evaluate the experiences presented. The workshop conclusions will also set the next steps for tutoring selected Good Practices in summer  and guiding the Policy action formulation and initial implementation until February 2027.
