Circularity, Sustainability & Safety from Design of Plastics
The seminar on Circularity, Sustainability and Safety from Design of Plastics organised 16 December 2024 was attended by more than 50 Catalan companies, mainly from the chemical and plastics sectors, with the participation of 8 speakers representing ACCIÓ, the Catalan Waste Agency, the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Catalan Government, the Catalan Waste Cluster, the technological research centre LEITAT and the Spanish Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme ENVALORA.
Topics such as circular economy, sustainability, and safety from design; extended producer responsibility systems; clustering of the waste sector; and different instruments, public policies like the Catalan Circular Economy Roadmap (FRECC), and subsidies to promote sustainability and circularity in the plastics industry sector were discussed. Some of the policies presented like the “ProACCIÓ Green” are recognised as good practices by the Interreg Europe Platform, as an example of regional policy for innovation for a green and circular economy.
The Interreg Europe PLASTIX project and the main results of the report on the plastics sector in Europe were also presented. The attendees were invited to follow the Plastix project on its social networks and to participate in the following seminars that will be held on the themes of Plastics Recycling, Bioplastics and Legislation and Regulatory Framework in the first half of 2025.
