Nature-based solutions getting more and more known, but there is still lack of knowledge among the relevant stakeholders, policy makers and the wide public. How the findings, best practices and elaborated knowledge can be effectively disseminated is a crucial issue. Therefore, our NBS4LOCAL project training material focuses on

  • a basic understanding and practical steps for the effective planning of NbS interventions, including challenges, solutions, as well as the identification, analysis, and coordination of relevant stakeholders;
  • the challenges associated with NbS financing, including the limited (public) resources, the infancy of impact evaluation methods, and the difficulties in quantifying co-benefits
  • practical suggestions and advices on how to organise local and regional awareness-raising workshops.

How the above knowledge will be actually shared on regional level will be under the responsibility of our project partners according to their concrete needs. This methodology was the topic of our latest partner meeting, the “bootcamp for trainers” on 10 October. However, going beyond, several good practices have been presented by external experts as well to expand the partners’ knowledge about the NBS topic. These presentations were as follows:

  • Green revolution or Green transformation? How can we create the happier cities? - Katarzyna Przyjemska Grzesik (Krakow in greenery team)
  • Guimarães 2030 - Integrated Approaches for resilient territories - Francisco Carvalho (Landscape Laboratory)
  • From data collection to nature restauration “The case of Natagriwal” - Arnaud Sepulchre (Natura 2000 Advisor and scientific support)
  • Smart financial engineering - Mónika Németh (BURST)
  • Biodiversity credit (the mandatory and the voluntary system) - Gábor Vágó (Boosterra)
  • Green bonds - Gábor Gyura (Aquincum Sustainable Finance)

From now on the next step will be to prepare and implement the local trainings, which we do hope will be successful and informative.
