Opportunities and challenges in nature-based carbon removals

Tuesday, 3 December 2024, the seminar “The future of EU nature-based carbon removals: opportunities and challenges’ was arranged in Marche Region, Italy. Marche Region leads activities of the CPMR Climate Sub-Group on blue and green carbon, that is part of the Climate Working Group. In Climate working group Marche Region plays the role of vice-presidency, within the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions.

The Nacao Project was presented during this event, given the synergy. The introduction to the Good Practices derived from the activities of the Nacao Project was welcomed by the participants, arousing curiosity and attention; at the heart of the discussion were the opportunities that may arise from Nacao Good Practices that can be integrated into activities of the CPMR Climate Sub-Group, but also activities within the CPMR Climate Sub-Group that could also be discussed within the Nacao Project. The seminar it was a very fruitful exchange for both sides.

The event was attended by members of the CPMR Climate Sub-Group, both with technical officials and political representatives, such as Netherlands, Germany, Finland, France, Spain, and also joined by CPMR policy officers, representatives of the European Commission, as well as the Italian Chamber of Commerce that hosted the event.
