On December 17, the MonitorEE project held its 4th Interregional Event, bringing together 32 participants, including partners and stakeholders, to discuss energy efficiency strategies for buildings. The event combined presentations and an interactive workshop, fostering collaboration and idea-sharing across regions.

Insights from Regional Energy Analysis (REA)

The first session featured presentations based on the REA document, which covered regional regulatory frameworks, financial support schemes, state-of-the-art energy strategies, and SWOT analyses. Partners compared findings to identify opportunities and challenges unique to each region, providing valuable input for the forthcoming 'Joint Energy Analysis'.

Collaborative Workshop

The workshop utilized the MIRO Board platform, divided into two boards: one with guiding questions and sticky notes, and another with thematic circles representing priorities. Discussions focused on six key themes:

  • Technologies and Tools: Smart meters, BMS, IoT sensors, and AI-driven systems were highlighted as essential for efficient energy management.
  • Barriers and Solutions: High costs and limited technical expertise were noted as major challenges, with solutions such as training programs, standardized systems, and public-private partnerships.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholders: Effective cooperation between public administrations, private companies, and end users was emphasized as critical to project success.
  • Benefits and Goals: Economic savings, reduced carbon footprints, and improved comfort for building users were identified as key benefits of implementing smart management systems.
  • Scalability and Replicability: System standardization and pilot tests were suggested as strategies for ensuring the broader adoption of smart systems.
  • Future Innovations: Participants envisioned advancements in AI, IoT, and blockchain technology to enhance system efficiency and security.

Moving Forward

The event successfully combined knowledge-sharing and collaborative discussions, offering a comprehensive view of the current state and future potential of energy-efficient technologies for buildings.
