The municipality of Suceava has developed a public policy on the theme of Circular Economy in the construction sector, in the framework of becoming one of the smart and climate neutral cities by 2030 (March 2025)

Currently, Suceava Municipality is in the implementation and monitoring phase of the Climate City Contract (CCC), which includes a Climate Neutral Transition Action Plan, a related Investment Plan and a set of Commitments, with a time horizon of 2030.

Some measures undertaken by the municipality in the frame of this mission, were directly tackling KARMA’s challenges. The use of recyclable materials for local production of construction elements in the circular economy within Suceava city lead to the necesity of improving  local urban regulations and policies for achieving climate neutrality and developing a specific public policy on construction sector.

This local public policy proposal entitled Circular Economy in construction sector has been elaborated within Policy Lab Suceava, an event organized under the project "Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities: Planning, Piloting, Inspiring", funded by EEA and Norwegian Grants through the Bilateral Relations Fund.

The aim of the public policy is to reduce the environmental impact of the construction sector in line with the principles of the DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) in order to accelerate the local transition to climate neutrality by 2030 by integrating the principles of circular economy (sustainable resource management, waste reduction and revalorization).
