Local stakeholder meeting in County Bergstrasse (Feb 2025)
On February 4th, the meeting of the KARMA Stakeholder Network took place in County Bergstraße. Representatives from the public sector - the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Climate Protection Management County Bergstraße, the local Waste Management Association and the Hessian Energy Agency as well as from the private sector and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce were present.
The meeting focused on the climate protection concept of the County and how it can make greater use of recycling in the construction sector for local climate protection. The climate protection manager presented the current concept and starting points for the circular economy. Several ideas were discussed, such as increased monitoring of dismantling, separation of demolition materials by type, the possibility of reprocessing materials directly on the construction site, the introduction of thresholds for new buildings, the more frequent use of circular building materials in public procurement. These ideas will now be prioritised and developed in an internal process. Another key issue is the financing of circular construction projects.
To this end, the recognition of residual values resulting from circular construction methods will be further investigated in the coming months.
