Local stakeholder meeting in Calabria (January 2025)
The Calabrian stakeholders’ meeting of the KARMA Project "Circular Economy in the Construction Sector - Acting Today for a Better Future" financed by ERDF funds of the Interreg Europe Program 2021/2027, was held on January 30th at the Citadel, the Region’s headquarters.
The Region’s departments of Unitary Planning, Economic Development, Environment, Landscape and Urban Quality, Infrastructure, and Public Works, and EUROKOM association (KARMA’s project partner) participated in the work meeting.
There was a high level of participation of Calabrian stakeholders, both in-person and online, wanting to get involved in this international experience to contribute to the process of exchanging good practices and knowledge related to the circular economy in the construction sector. Among these participants were the Mediterranean University, and the University of Calabria, as well as the municipalities of Gerace and Siderno. For the business sector were present, among others, the Calabrian branch of the National Association of Building Contractors (ANCE, by its acronym in Italian), and other operators in the area including Ca.Ma., Calabria Calcestruzzi, Ecosistem, EKO M.R.F., and Ra.Ca.
During the meeting, the role of the project in providing useful support for the definition of policy tools to be adopted by the Region was underlined, focusing in particular on the importance of the Waste Plan - Special Waste section. Other opportunities offered by the project in guaranteeing public administrations, businesses and associations of a space to compare and exchange good practices between partners with international experience.
The Calabrian stakeholders’ meeting also served to outline the advancement of the KARMA project, and to coordinate the commitments that Calabria is preparing to face on the topic of circular economy, aware of the support given by the project and its utility for sharing knowledge to boost professional growth.
