KARMA - Working Group 3 Online Event

The event takes place in the framework of Working Group 3: “Cost efficiency and environmental impact of circular economy processes” and is organised by the KARMA project’s lead partner the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (DE).

This workshop will focus on exploring the cost-efficiency and environmental impact of circular economy processes. With the growing importance of circular economy in sustainable development, the event will examine innovative strategies and best practices in reducing environmental impacts while ensuring economic feasibility. Participants will gain insights into financing schemes for circular economy initiatives and explore cutting-edge solutions for sustainable construction.

Key presentations:

• ECO-BOX - Multi-storey construction with room modules: innovative project focusing on sustainable construction with resource-conserving raw materials and a recyclable construction process. Speaker: : Prof. Dr.-Ing. Berndt Zeitler, Deputy Director of the Institute for Applied Research (IAF) at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences.
• Mobispace: Sustainable and flexible school buildings for modern education - sustainable timber school buildings with a flexible rental option. The use of standardised room units allows for flexible conversion, removal or dismantling. Speaker: Christian Keil, Architect & Head of Development at mobispace GmBH.
• DECISO project (Horizon europe) and its Hamburg pilot: supporting European cities and regions to develop financing schemes for circular economy initiatives. Speaker: Magalie Michalak, DECISO’s project manager, Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
