KARMA - Working Group Online Event

The event is led by Working Group 4: “Governance of climate plans and circular economy strategies” and is organised by the KARMA project partner Circular Flanders (BE).

The workshop aims to explore effective governance strategies in advancing climate plans and circular economy initiatives. Focused on the integration of circular economy principles at various governmental levels, the event will examine how local and regional strategies can drive sustainable practices and foster circular cities. Participants will engage in discussions around best practices, successful case studies, and innovative approaches to aligning climate action with circular economy objective.

Key presentations:

• The governance approach of the Local Green Deal in Mannheim. Speaker: Judith Geiser, Head of Local Green Deal, City of Mannheim.
• The role of different governmental levels in advancing circular cities: An analysis of Local Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans in Flanders. Speaker: Michiel Pauwels, PhD researcher at VITO and KU Leuven focusing on monitoring the circular economy in municipalities.
