TLJ#4 - Green transition in construction & industrial sector
Hosted by Guldborgsund Municipality, this fourth and last Transnational Learning Journey of INERTWASTE gathered partners and their stakeholders in Denmark for a last exchange under the topic of "Local public authority and policies as driver for green transition in construction and industrial sector and future skills and knowledge". The two-day event spotlighted innovative strategies to valorise construction and demolition waste (CDW), aligning with broader EU environmental and climate goals.
Day 1 featured a series of presentations highlighting a wide range of tools and policy approaches aimed at maximising the reuse and recycling of construction materials. On Day 2, the focus shifted to on-site learning. Delegates visited the Storstrømsbroen bridge project, a major infrastructure development in the Guldborgsund region. Project leaders shared insights into how components from the old bridge could potentially be repurposed in the new structure. They also discussed the innovative use of slag from local waste incinerators in building the bridge ramps, along with the technical challenges involved in integrating such secondary materials.

Good practices
The following good practices have been presented (click on the title to download the presentation):
- Facilitating reporting, compliance, and process management within construction and real estate (DK)
Openframe is an efficient digital platform for managing sustainability efforts in reporting, compliance, and process management within construction and real estate. Reporting requirements from legislation and sustainability standards are turned into achievable tasks that can easily be planned, delegated and executed. The platform supports collaboration across disciplines, handles documentation and provides transparency. - The OpenCirc project (DK)
OpenCirc is a technological enabler for the real estate and construction industry's material passport needs. By serving as a digital framework to collect, organize, and share comprehensive data on materials, components, and buildings, it ensures that stakeholders can easily track and assess different products and materials throughout their respective lifecycle across country borders. - Upcycling Forum Net (DK)
This platform aims to be the leading platform for systematizing and scaling the reuse and upcycling of materials and inventory. - Prefabricated concrete walls with recycled concrete elements (DK)
- Project presentation the Interreg South Baltic FutureBalticBauhaus (DK)
The project with its unique challenge and good composition of the partnership has the potential to make a significant impact on the construction industry by introducing meaningful results. - Pilot project under Interreg South Baltic FutureBalticBauhaus (DK) (additional presentation on experience from recycling building materials 2023)
Selective demolition, assessment of demolition method and description of source sorting etc. - NonHazCity3-project (DK)
- Establishing a Circular Economy Chair (ES)
Promoting knowledge and skills for sustainable construction - Creating synergies between building sites and local players to optimize the reuse of materials and promote the circular economy on the territorial scale of the Greater Avignon urban community (FR)
- From inert waste management to circular recovery (FR)
The global strategy developed in the Southern Region and the OGEO concept extended in France - Challenges and Implementation of Solutions for Inert Waste in the City Municipality of Maribor (SI)
- Reality Capture for environmental insight, Resource Mapping, and Life Cycle Assessment (DK)
- Innovative solutions for recovering inert waste: examples from the Paris region (FR)
