The third meeting of the HYPERION project will be held on May 27 and 28 in StavangerRogaland County, eastern Norway.

The main topics covered during the two-day meeting will mainly be as follows:

  • Presentation of the Norwegian hydrogen landscape
  • Focus on hydrogen as a marine fuel.
  • Identification and exchange of best practices.

A study visit to the Risavika hydrogen hub is planned, which has the ambition to establish a local test center for hydrogen production from natural gas, biogas, electricity and with thermal capabilities. The test center focuses primarily on small pilot plants and testing of key components at the medium level, and potentially on pilot plants for industrial-level hydrogen production. The hub also provides education and training opportunities for students and industry professionals. The hub will help accelerate the growth of new technologies and value chains and, as such, provide a platform for industry, research, and government collaboration.

The second day of the meeting, in addition to the usual steering committee, will include an additional guided tour of the partnership on “Hydra.” Hydra is the world's first hydrogen-powered ship operating between Hjelmeland and Nesvik, off Stavanger, on Norway's west coast, on behalf of Norled, one of Norway's largest ferry and fast boat operators.
