At the historic 30th Congress of Polish Spas in Ciechocinek, GreenSPAS was proudly showcased as an inspiring initiative addressing the challenges of climate change and the need for sustainable development in the thermal spa sector.

This landmark event, where history meets the future, served as a platform for discussing how we can protect and enhance the unique heritage of spa towns in the face of climate change. Over 200 years ago, the construction of the iconic graduation towers began here, and today, the focus is on how to safeguard such heritage for future generations.

GreenSPAS - A European Response to Modern Challenges

The GreenSPAS project, led by Kujawsko-Pomorskie and involving eight partners from seven European countries, is a concrete answer to how we can preserve the unique ecosystems of spa towns. The project’s key actions include:

  • Developing a management model that incorporates climate change adaptation.
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange among European spa destinations.
  • Implementing innovative solutions to protect natural resources.
  • Building an international network of collaboration for a sustainable future.

The Congress as a Dialogue Platform

This year’s theme, “Back to the Sources,” took on new meaning in the context of modern challenges. The Congress provided an opportunity for the spa industry, local authorities, government officials, and experts to present innovative solutions and discuss how to responsibly manage the natural resources of thermal resorts.

Our partner, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, highlighted GreenSPAS as a model of innovation and collaboration. Their efforts are taking the project further, raising awareness, and inspiring spa destinations across Europe to adopt sustainable practices, ensuring the long-term resilience of thermal towns.

Together for a Sustainable Future

The 30th Polish Spa Congress, held under the theme “Back to the Sources”, is the perfect platform for discussing the future of Polish spas and the role of international collaboration in protecting our shared heritage. The event, part of the European Heritage Days, highlighted that only through collective action—on local, national, and international levels—can we effectively respond to future challenges.
