The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is the biggest association of entrepreneurs in Latvia uniting 6000 members – micro, small, medium and large enterprises of all regions and industries, associations, city business clubs and other unions of entrepreneurs. Association represents interests of entrepreneurs, as well as provides services, so that Latvia has excellent enterprises in an excellent business environment. Main sectors of its activities are business environment, competitiveness of enterprises, export.

Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is founded on 21 December 1934 and is a member of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Its mission is to be the voice and support of Latvian entrepreneurs since 1934.

The primary ambition of LCCI in the field of the green transition is to provide support to the entrepreneurship and thus create the necessary conditions to enhance the international competitiveness of Latvian businesses. This includes ensuring that energy as a critical resource is accessible, secure and competitively priced within the region. As a result, the LCCI is committed to actively taking part in policy-making processes to ensure that policies align as closely as possible with these goals.

The LCCI has strong and multifaceted ties to public entities, making the organisation an ideal dialogue facilitator between policy makers and businesses for projects like Green Hydra. The ties have developed as LCCI performs its role as a key stakeholder in economic development and policy dialogue, regularly interacting with policy makers to advocate for the needs of the private sector. The LCCI often participates in public advisory councils, policy committees, and working groups, providing expertise and feedback on legislative and policy initiatives.

Additionally, the LCCI has served as a trusted partner in implementing numerous EU projects aimed at supporting SMEs, fostering innovation, and enhancing competitiveness. The LCCI’s understanding of public administration processes, combined with its connections to the business community, enables the LCCI to bring together actors of the hydrogen ecosystem.

Participation at flagship projects such as Green Hydra that aim to influence regional policies to ensure favorable circumstances for the green energy transition and, in the case, the development of green hydrogen ecosystems, is key for the LCCI, which acts here as an implementor of EU policy objectives. One of the roles the LCCI plays by getting involved in EU projects is to act as an EU policy ambassador and bring EU ambitions closer to the Latvian business community. Green Hydra will strengthen the LCCI’s role as dialogue facilitator bridging the interests of policy makers, EU ambitions and Latvian business representatives.
