University Collaboration on Sharing in Bartók QuarterQuarter

Earlier in 2025, a forward-looking collaboration began between Corvinus University of Budapest and the Bartók Quarter—a project focused on creating a more sustainable, community-oriented urban environment in one of Budapest’s most dynamic cultural districts.
As part of this partnership, students participated in two university courses that connected academic learning with real-world sustainability challenges.
In the Content Marketing course, students worked intensively in teams over a seven-week period to design communication strategies for the Bartók Quarter’s tool-sharing program. This initiative promotes access to shared equipment and tools among residents and local organizations, encouraging circular economy practices and stronger community ties. The student teams developed digital content and strategic plans to help raise awareness and engage the public in adopting this shared-use model.
Simultaneously, students enrolled in the Measurement of Progress and Wellbeing course are examining how community-based initiatives—such as the sharing economy—can improve wellbeing in ways that go beyond GDP. Their work focuses on:

International best practices in urban sharing models and local community building

The impact of the “15-minute city” concept on livability and social cohesion

Psychological, emotional, and social benefits of shared resources and collaborative consumption

Interview questions for field research, with a focus on youth engagement and wellbeing outcomes
Throughout the courses, the students participated in lectures and consultations held at Adaptér, a community space in the district, and will soon present their final results.
The collaboration was made possible through Corvinus University’s Science Shop program, which connects students with real-world social and environmental issues. This joint effort demonstrates how academia and urban innovation can come together to build more resilient, inclusive cities—starting with the Bartók Quarter.
