Practices Supporting Food Industry in Sustainable Transition

On 9th of January 2025, on-line meeting of the partners of the FISSH (Food Industry SMEs Sustainability Support and Help) project took place. The project's goal is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the food industry on their path to sustainable development. The main topic of the event was the presentation of good practices by project partners to help companies in the food sector transition to more sustainable business models.

Good practices in projects within the Interreg Europe Programme are a crucial aspect. The exchange of knowledge and experiences, along with the identification of good practices, plays a key role in fostering sustainable development and innovation.

Public Policy Support and Interventions for Sustainable Development

During the meeting, project partners presented examples of public policies and supporting initiatives already in place in their regions/countries. Different forms of support for enterprises were discussed, such as grants for the development of sustainable technologies, educational programs, and initiatives promoting the circular economy.

iExamples coveres topisc like collaboration between the public and private sectors can yield tangible benefits for both businesses and the environment. Thanks to well-designed support interventions, companies can more quickly implement innovative solutions and adapt to new market demands related to sustainable production.

Next Steps for the FISSH Project

The project partners agreed of future activities is the creation of a comprehensive catalog of the good practices and the development of recommendations for policymakers. In the coming months, additional workshops and meetings are planned to further develop joint initiatives supporting the sustainable transformation of SMEs in the food sector.
