A moment of the meeting

On 10 April 2025, EMBRACER actively participated in the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform online workshop on expanding E-Mobility at the regional level.

EMBRACER had the great opportunity to attend the workshop during its Exchange of Experience event in Cork, Ireland, so all project partners and several stakeholder could participate all together, following the discussion from the Cork City Hall, joining more than 50 other participants online.

The webinar explored good practices from Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia and Sweden.

The transition to e-mobility faces significant challenges, including the rollout of charging networks and uptake of electric vehicles. Overcoming these challenges requires co-ordinated efforts between governments, technology providers, and energy providers to develop sustainable policies, incentives, and education campaigns that promote e-mobility. As such, the eWorkshop showcased how regional and local authorities across EU are supporting the expansion of e-mobility in their territory, with an emphasis on charging infrastructure and EV introduction.

EMBRACER, represented by Darren McAdam-O’Connell, Cork Transport & Mobility Forum, was involved in the Session 2 of the workshop, focused on procurement and deployment of E-vehicles, discussing what’s the right tool for the right job E-Bikes or E-Cars. This was the occasion to share a brief overview of e-mobility importance of sustainable transportation options; as well as design and regulatory advancements and innovations for potential market growth ands adoption rate.

Among the webinar key learnings:

  • The crucial role of Public authorities in enabling the transition by setting policies, investing in infrastructure, and leading by example with the electrification of public fleets.
  • The availability of charging points is essential for the uptake of e-vehicles
  • The need to invest in charging infrastructure
  • Trusting the data
  • Ensuring competition among operators
  • Integrating the wider regional strategy for mobility
  • Allocating parking spaces
  • Easing the grid
