Identified needs from participating DETOCS regions
The DETOCS project, part of the Interreg Europe programme, has released a new document addressing the diverse challenges European regions face in decarbonising the tourism sector. With a focus on post-COVID-19 recovery, the report consolidates insights from participating regions, spotlighting region-specific needs such as workforce development, digital skills, retrofitting heritage buildings, and promoting sustainable energy practices.
Drawing on discussions from the recent Exchange of Experiences event in Malta, the report showcases tailored solutions to these challenges. By facilitating collaboration and sharing best practices, DETOCS supports regions in building more sustainable and energy-efficient tourism industries.
Looking ahead, the project emphasizes the importance of customized training programs, simplified bureaucratic processes, and initiatives to advance sustainable practices. By addressing these issues collaboratively, DETOCS contributes to creating a resilient and climate-conscious tourism sector across Europe.
