Tartu Experts Visit Capital for Circular Solutions
On May 23rd, Association of Municipalities of Tartu County organized a field meeting in Tallinn for environmental specialists from Tartu County municipalities, where they had the opportunity to learn about innovative circular economy and waste management solutions.
At the Tallinn Circular Economy Centre in Lilleküla, participants got acquainted with the operations of Estonia's most modern waste station. Particularly impressive was the practical approach – repair workshops and reuse corners at collection points help keep materials in circulation longer and reduce the amount of valuable materials ending up as waste. Although the volumes of salvaged materials are still modest, the greatest value lies in growing awareness and a shift in mindset.

At Green Marine’s construction waste treatment site in Maardu, attendees saw up close how industrial-scale construction and demolition waste, as well as old furniture, are directed back into reuse.
The study visit was attended by environmental specialists from our municipalities: Tartu City, Tartu Parish, Elva Parish, Luunja Parish, Kambja Parish, Nõo Parish, Peipsiääre Parish, and Kastre Parish.
Together, we are moving towards a more informed and sustainable future!
The field meeting was co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Europe Programme project Desice.
