On June 4–5, 2025, the DESICE project partners came together in East Flanders, Belgium, for an engaging Interregional Learning Event filled with study visits, good practice exchanges, and collaborative discussions aimed at advancing circular economy initiatives.

The event kicked off with a warm informal dinner in Ghent on the evening of June 3, setting the tone for two days of insightful learning. Participants began their journey in Aalst, where they visited Walstroom and heard inspiring testimonials from local circular economy pioneers, including ROVER, TipToh, Mai.Zoku, Ierejjet, De Keet, and Broeikas, organizers of the Circular Hackathon.

The group then traveled to Sint-Niklaas for a visit to COCON, a vibrant hub for sustainable innovation. Presentations from Re-Sound, Baby On The Move, Waas Circulair, and BAAS offered practical examples of circular entrepreneurship in action.

The second day featured presentations from project partners, showcasing a diverse range of good practices—from innovative recycling solutions in Romania to eco-design with natural fibres in Italy. Institutions like Pallas University of Applied Sciences in Estonia also shared their approaches to embedding circular economy principles into education.

Participants also visited the Fablab at Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Ghent, highlighting the region’s commitment to social-circular innovation.

With a strong mix of knowledge-sharing, hands-on experiences, and networking, the East Flanders meeting significantly contributed to the DESICE project’s mission of promoting circular economy education and practices across Europe.
