Accessible Nature Trails in the Arctic Circle Hiking Area
Nature does good for people! Therefore, we think that access to nature is a right for everyone. Even for those with mobility challenges, users of assistive devices, and families with small children in strollers.
Metsähallitus, Parks and Wildlife Finland, builds and maintains accessible trails, for example in the Arctic Circle Hiking Area. Enhancing inclusion and equality in this way is something so important that this case seems a little like… A good practice?
The international DEPART Interreg Europe Project team has now truly started to map out and document good practices in sports tourism. They have presented preliminary ideas to each other, asked questions and clarifications, given even critical feedback, but above all, they have been excited about the collaboration and the inspiring case examples.
Good practice process in DEPART is coordinated by the northernmost partner of the project, Lapland University of Applied Sciences, and it is implemented in close cooperation with the Finnish Consulting Group (FGC).
