Proactive adaptation to climate change is important
The year 2024 was the warmest on record, and the global average temperature exceeded the 1.5-degree limit set by the Paris Agreement. The effects of the temperature rise can be seen in Europe already. Even if carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions were drastically cut today, temperatures would continue to rise because the natural removal of CO2 from the atmosphere is slow. To prevent the realization of risks and to increase resilience, identifying climate risks and adaptation is needed. Proactive adaptation helps to identify, plan and implement activities in advance, and in this way, it is also economically profitable compared to reactive actions.
