Sharing Knowledge: Disaster Management in Ljubljana

The Vas County Government Office, working with the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development in the LOCALIENCE project, joined a study visit to Ljubljana on March 20-21, 2025. This visit, part of the CLIMATE project, was to show Hungarian partners how Slovenia is running its pilot activity.
The group also included people from the Vas County Directorate for Disaster Management.
During the visit, they learned about:
- How Ljubljana's fire service works, including their notification and response system and their dispatch center.
- The Municipality of Ljubljana's Emergency Management Department and their plans for protecting the city from disasters.
- The weather forecasting services from the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO).
- The pilot action, which aims to make communities stronger against extreme weather. This includes testing automatic notification systems, setting up email and phone alerts, and creating special monitoring tools for the area.
The Hungarian team will use this knowledge in the CLIMATE project.
