HSY participated in Climate Change Adaption projects

HSY participated in two events to disseminate information about the project, foster collaboration, and
explore synergies with other organizations: the Final Seminar of the Adapt-FIRST project on 27.8.2024
held by the Finnish Environment Institute, and Climate Change Adaptation and Innovation Possibilities
seminar organized by Forum Virium Helsinki on 4.9.2024.
The Final Seminar of the Adapt-FIRST project comprised two sessions - Model descriptions and
indicator selection as well as Sensitivity, impact likelihoods and adaptation - in which research results
were presented. Third session focused on discussion around implications of the results for climate change adaptation planning and practice. Adapt-FIRST: Adapting to climate change risks in Finland: an
Impact Response surface STudy is a four-year project (2020-2024) seeking to develop a new risk
framework for climate change adaptation at regional level in Finland.
Climate Change Adaptation and Innovation Possibilities seminar focused on climate change adaptation and related innovation opportunities. The discussion event included expert presentations, discussions and networking and was open to representatives from cities and businesses as well as individuals interested in the subject.
At these events, HSY engaged as an observer to learn from other projects, gain fresh perspectives, and
identify potential for collaboration. The participation provided an opportunity to network, establish
professional connections, and showcase the local relevance of the CLIMATE-project. Additionally, HSY contributed to the broader discussion on climate change adaptation by sharing insights and exploring possibilities for involvement in ongoing efforts within the region aligning with HSY’s commitment to support regional climate resilience by fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration with the key stakeholders.
