1st Stakeholder Meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus
Nicosia Development Agency organized the 1st Stakeholder Meeting of the CIBUS project on 6 February 2025. The event brought together a diverse range of local organizations, including representatives from the Managing Authority (MA), local authorities, businesses, civil society associations, NGOs, and universities.
The meeting began with a comprehensive presentation on the Interreg Europe CIBUS project, outlining its scope, objectives, key activities, and expected outcomes. This was followed by an engaging discussion on food loss and waste, existing policies, and local initiatives that could serve as Good Practices. Special emphasis was placed on the key factors contributing to food loss and waste across the entire supply chain.
The discussion was structured around four main stages of the food supply chain:
- Food Production & Manufacturing – Challenges faced by producers and manufacturers.
- Distribution & Transportation – Logistical inefficiencies and potential areas for improvement.
- Retail & Markets – The role of supermarkets, local markets, and food service businesses.
- Consumers & Socio-Economic Factors – Consumer behavior, awareness, and societal impacts.
The insights gathered were further analyzed and incorporated into the Cypriot preparatory module for interregional exchange, contributing to the broader objectives of the CIBUS project.
