A workshop bringing together stakeholders (hunters, breeders, municipal authorities, Nature conservation associations and scientists from the regional administration) was held at Mount Rigi (East of Wallonia) on 21 March 2025.

This workshop was organised in the framework of the Interreg CiBioGo project. During a study visit to Slovenia last September, the Walloon project team identified the good practice of stakeholder consultation in the resolution of conflicts arising from cohabitation with large carnivores as potentially transferable to the Walloon context.

The Walloon Wolf Plan, which has reached the end of its five-year term, has been chosen as the target of this good practice.

It was proposed to the managers within the Walloon administration to implement a participatory evaluation of this instrument based on the Slovenian model of consultation.

The numerous exchanges and role-plays undertaken during the day made it possible to draw conclusions and suggestions both in terms of measures to support breeders as well as communication and awareness of the public concerned, which can be used for the drafting of the new version of the Wolf Plan 2.0 planned for 2026.
