The second meeting of the SustainableTipp stakeholder group took place on 12th December 2024 in Thurles, Tipperary, Ireland. The session opened with an update from Eddie Meegan of the Tipperary County Council Climate Action Office, who shared insights from the recent ADAPTO partner meeting hosted in Ireland at the end of October.

The ADAPTO partner meeting began with a gathering at the Technological University of the Shannon in Thurles, where project partners presented examples of regional good practices and engaged in discussions on how these practices could be replicated across Europe.

On the second day, participants visited a wetland education centre, where they received two key presentations. The first was delivered by the Eastern and Midlands Climate Action Regional Office (CARO), outlining Ireland’s regional approach to addressing climate challenges. The second presentation, from the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), highlighted the challenges and strategies involved in restoring and rehabilitating degraded peatlands.

Following the update, SustainableTipp members discussed how other regions are adapting to climate change. Eddie Meegan encouraged members to reflect on their own ongoing activities and identify potential good practices that could be shared with the wider ADAPTO project network.
