Following the opening speech by the Director of the Department of Strategy and Development, the Project Coordinator presented the latest project developments: experiences from the recent partners’ meeting in Ireland, progress in validating selected practices, and new communication materials, such as the translated project video.
As part of the meeting, several regional initiatives relevant to climate adaptation were presented and discussed. These examples are not officially selected as validated Good Practices within the ADAPTO project but were shared for inspiration and stakeholder engagement. They included:
-
An initiative in Zamość involving local communities in urban greening efforts under the motto “Green Lungs for Zamość”, focused on areas near bicycle paths and accompanied by educational workshops.
-
A long-term environmental collaboration between the Bogdanka Coal Mine and Poleski National Park, including environmental monitoring and protection of peatlands and endangered species.
-
The resettlement of the endangered noble crayfish in four rivers of Lubelskie and Podlaskie regions, preceded by scientific research and followed by an educational video.
-
The application of green and blue technologies in Roztocze National Park, combining environmental education, climate change research, and the development of the Roztocze Science and Education Center, which promotes renewable energy.
Participants were encouraged to reflect on these examples through a short interactive survey, and further ideas were welcomed during the closing discussion. The Project Coordinator emphasized the diversity and value of stakeholder contributions and concluded with the words: “See you in the next semester”.
