Hydrogen Transformation in the Heart of Europe

On September 1–2, 2025, the Hy.Summit.Rhein.Ruhr will take place in Duisburg and Bochum, positioning the Rhein-Ruhr Metropolitan Region as a frontrunner in the emerging European hydrogen economy. The summit will gather experts and stakeholders from business, research, and politics to shape the future of hydrogen across industrial, mobility, and energy sectors. 

This two-day event, organised by Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH (DBI) together with partners of the Hy.Region.Rhein.Ruhr, offers a dynamic platform for international exchange, matchmaking, and showcasing of hydrogen technologies.

Day one in Duisburg will kick off aboard the MS RheinGalaxie with keynotes and interactive networking opportunities on the water, symbolizing the region's logistical strengths and future orientation. Day two continues at the RuhrCongress Bochum, where high-level panels and hands-on sessions will explore financing, cross-sector collaboration, and real-world implementation.

The summit will showcase Duisburg’s role as an anchor for hydrogen innovation, including projects linked to steel decarbonization, hydrogen logistics, and startup collaboration, and aligns closely with Accelerate GDT priorities of driving green transformation and resilience in former industrial regions, making it a key opportunity for partners and stakeholders.
