Meet the partners: let's meet Mechelen
SPOTLOG continues its "Meet the partners" campaign to let you know who is behind the project.
Let's meet Mechelen, a beautiful medium-sized city located in the centre of Flanders, Belgium. This vivid and popular city has attracted many new residents, entrepreneurs, visitors and tourists over the last years, resulting in a growth in traffic and goods flows. The challenge for Mechelen is to be both a pleasant and attractive city to live in, but also an accessible and sustainable city. The city must look for smart and sustainable solutions for logistic challenges.
The city has been implementing trial projects for the last 8 years and experimenting cycle logistics, (micro)consolidation, electrical and autonomous vehicles and data gathering. It is now time to upscale all these initiatives and this is only possible through implementing the right flanking policy. This is for Mechelen the main goal of participating in SPOTLOG: learning and taking the time to define and implement the right logistics measures for more green city logistics.
