SILVER SMEs organised its fourth international seminar on September 2, 2020 on “Senior Tourism and Accessibility”. The meeting, which was supposed to take place in the region of Dalarna (Sweden) alongside with study visits, was transformed into a virtual seminar due to sanitary reasons.
This seminar follows our first three conferences on business opportunities linked to active, vulnerable and dependent ageing population, respectively organised in Slovenia in May 2019, Poland in October 2019 and Ireland in February 2020. During our fourth seminar, SILVER SMEs partners and speakers had the opportunity to introduce some good practices from their regions to inspire local and international stakeholders.
This fourth seminar was an opportunity for joint reflection and inspiration to address the issue of accessibility in the rural tourism sector. During the event, good practices were showcased to illustrate
- how the Silver Economy sector could contribute to making tourism experiences accessible to seniors
- how training is important to support SMEs in the transition towards seniors tourism
- how regional policies could help to offer more adapted and cheaper tourism experiences to older adults
