From Germany to Spain: INFO Murcia presents its good practices to SCALE UP partners

On the 24th of September, the Instituto de Fomento de la Región de Murcia (Regional Development Agency of Murcia) presented to SCALE UP project partners three good practices aimed at business scaling in the Region of Murcia.

The first good practice presented was the program of support for the entry of private investors in newly created companies, which supports the financing of innovative companies in early stages. Fernando Sanchez from INFO presented the specifications of the program and the call. Pedro García from MurciaBAN, the business angels’ network of Murcia, talked about investments facilitation and Roy Torgersen, founder and CEO of Nido robotics, presented his company as an example of a business scaling up supported by the program.

The second good practice presented was INCOOVA, which is a program carried out by INFO and CROEM, fostering development of innovative talent projects. Maria José Torres from CROEM, the Regional Confederation of Entrepreneurial Organizations of Murcia, presented the features of the program. The Seres Urbanos case study was presented by Jimmy Alexander Viñan. Javier Fernández Gallardo, an expert mentor involved in INCOOVA, commented about the role of expert mentors in the program.

The third good practice presented was the Tracción program, carried out by INFO together with Red PuntoPyme which is the network of local development agents from city councils in the region. Javier Lopez, senior consultant at Bacofis, presented in behalf of INFO how Tracción brings together innovative young companies with the purchase departments of large companies. Isabel Serna, local development agent at Ceuti city council, explained the role of local development agents as facilitators at local level. Daniel Morales from Laboratorio de Artesanía Digital showed how the program boosted their business.

Until 2021 SCALE UP will produce analysis and proposal of a regional policy on innovation and scaling up of companies, which will be accompanied by a pack of regional programs aimed at boosting the scale up of companies. The action plan will be launched from 2022 onwards, during the second phase of the project.

Each SCALE UP project partner has built a regional working group that has the mission of contributing with their specialized points of views, as well as evaluating the potential and replicability of the best practice or program to be implemented in the region. The Murcia Regional Action Group is formed by the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Murcia - CROEM, the Local Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena - COEC, the European Center for Business and Innovation of Murcia - CEEIM, the European Center for Business and Innovation Cartagena - CEEIC, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the University of Murcia and the Regional Network of Local Development Agents of the City Councils of the Region of Murcia.

SCALEUP is part of the interregional cooperation program INTERREG EUROPA of the European Union and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
