We look back on another successful regional (online) meeting of the project RFC - Recapture the Fortress Cities with the Fortress of Lier as host. More than 50 stakeholders from all corners of Flanders came together to exchange their ideas and inspiration on re-use and financing of fortresses and heritage projects.
Some lessons learned include that people, friends and volunteers of our heritage are the most important capital. Also crowdfunding turns out as a very usefull mechanism for 1st initiatives and support, afterwards government support or entrepreneurs will follow. A good tip from the Netherlands is also to look back to the origin of the heritage, this often helps to determine a sustainable future.
