The European Commission has launched a call for creative, fresh and innovative ideas to make better use of and improve access to EU data. Novel ideas can be submitted to an EU Regions Hackathon.
With the tagline #Ideas4EU, the hackathon seeks solutions to 'Get closer to citizens' and ease access to information. The proposed solutions should:
- combine at least one domain from the DG REGIO website with at least one dataset on the ESIF Open Data Portal, European Data Portal, EU Open Data Portal, Eurostat website, Europa portal, Copernicus website, Interoperability solutions website, Building blocks Page or any other dataset (open or not).
- result in a new, original mobile or web application, visualisation or demonstration of applying data science by linking datasets for new insights and engagement with EU citizens
To participate, register and submit your idea by 26 July 2019.
The selected finalists will be invited to present their ideas in Brussels during the European Week of Regions and Cities in October 2019.
The winning team will be awarded tickets to the Web Summit in Lisbon in November 2019, where they will have a chance to present their solution to the 70 000 participants summit participants ranging from the start-ups and entrepreneurs to private investors and global tech industry decision-makers.
