On 31 October 2018 the first call for peer reviews run by the Policy Learning Platform was closed. We received 13 applications that cover all topics addressed by the Interreg Europe programme. The final results are expected for beginning of December 2018, at the latest.
Public bodies from various European regions showed their interest in hosting a peer review. They see this as a great opportunity to find policy solutions by exchanging and learning from others. The received applications tackle policy challenges such as innovation governance, energy efficiency or circular economy, to name just a few.
Here is the breakdown per topic:
- Research and innovation: 4 applications
- SME competitiveness: 4 applications
- Low-carbon economy : 1 application
- Environment and resource efficiency: 4 applications
But what are the peer reviews?
Interregional peer reviews allow managing authorities of structural funds programmes and public bodies in charge of local or regional development policies to receive hands-on feedback and advice from other European regions (peers) on the implementation of their programmes and policies.
How does this work in practice?
In October we co-ordinated our first peer review for the Hauts-de-France region. With this occasion we brought together in Lille six experts from France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain to share their experience of managing public funding related to energy efficiency in building.
Check this short video to see how it went and what the participants thought about it!
