Smart Factories in New EU Member States is a project aiming at supporting the “implementation of a network of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH)” across the 13 most recent EU Member States (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia), “where companies – especially SMEs – can have access to expertise, development and testing facilities of digital technologies, as well as access to finance and to innovation services.” In the context of the project, 34 potential DIHs from those 13 EU Member States receive “training on how to develop a sustainable DIH in their region”. The European Commission – DG CNECT and PwC, the lead partner of the project, organize a workshop to capitalize on the experiences made in Smart Factories in New EU Member States and provide an “opportunity for other potential Digital Innovation Hubs, national and regional policy makers, and SMEs to discuss and share ideas on how to approach digital transformation in different regions and how to set up Digital Innovation Hubs to contribute to that goal.”

The workshop will take place in Brussels, on October 11, 2018 from 14:30 to 16:00, under the umbrella of the European Week of Regions and Cities.
