COSME is the European programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). It has four strands of action with the overall aim to support:
- “better access to finance for SMEs
- access to markets for European SMEs,
- more favourable conditions for business creation and growth.”
When it comes to the access of markets, and this is where Managing Authorities have a role to play, one recurring issue is the limited access of SMEs to public procurement.
The COSME call for proposals COS-PPI-2018-2-01: Co-financing of consortia for public procurement of innovation addresses this issue and aims at supporting consortia of public buyers willing to design and implement a public procurement for innovation action and thus contribute to a significant increase in the proportion of SMEs that have access to the public procurement market.
Each consortium has to be composed of a minimum of two public buyers from two different eligible countries. The estimated budget for the call is of EUR 4 million.
Deadline for the submission of proposals is 11 December 2018.
The call provides an interesting opportunity for transregional collaboration and investment in new solutions provided by innovative SMEs.
