The Podkarpackie Innovation Council (“Podkarpacka Rada Innowacyjnosci”) - advisory body of the Board of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
The Podkarpackie Innovation Council (“Podkarpacka Rada Innowacyjnosci”) is the advisory body of the Board of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. In the framework of implementing the system project “Strengthening the institutional system of implementation of the RIS 2007-2014 in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship”, it organized regular meetings which recently focused mainly on the RIS3, and mainly the identification of regional smart specializations. It should be highlighted that the Innovation Council participated actively in the RIS3 consultation processes. The Innovation Board brings together the representatives of all stakeholders involved in the innovative development of the region, namely the most innovative enterprises (small, medium and large), the education institutions, R&D institutions, regional development agencies, business representatives, and so forth. Its composition is systematically modified depending on the topic of the thematic meetings. In such cases, stakeholders that have practical or theoretical expertise about a specific aspect of innovation are invited. One of the Board’s tasks is to give an opinion on the projects planned in the Regional Operation Programme for the years 2014 - 2020. It has been established in 2004 and at that time it was the only body of this type in Poland.

The Podkarpackie Innovation Council is a pro bono body. The secretariat service ensure the Marshall Office of the Podkarpackie Region.

Evidence of success

Podkarpackie Innovation Board have participated actively in the RIS3 consultation processes as well as in the process of definition of selection criteria under the I axis of Podkarpackie Regional Operational Programme for the years 2014- 2020.

Potential for learning or transfer

The Podkarpackie Innovation Council gives the close link to the activities carried out in the field of Regional Operation Programme of Podkarpackie Voivodship for the years 2014 – 2020 as well as to the activities related to the implementation of the RIS3 Strategy in the field of action plans for Podkarpackie smart specializations. The Council’s involvement is important since it comprises representatives of all interest groups and types of entities directly constituting the regional innovation system. This affects to the comprehensive scope and accuracy of opinions and recommendations submitted to the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Board by the Podkarpackie Innovation Council
